The already pimped lineup for the 2017 Laneway Festival just got even pimper, with the addition of yet another international act in the form of Young Thug.
The Atlanta MC will be making his Australian debut at St. Jerome’s exclusively, meaning there’ll be zero Aussie sideshows happening.
The announcement comes after D.D. Dumbo was added to the bill as a replacement for The Julie Ruin, who recently pulled out of the festival.
“We’re not in the habit of announcing artists late in the piece, but Young Thug and D.D Dumbo are two artists that have been at the very top of our list the past couple of years,” says Laneway Festival co-founder Danny Rogers. “We found out they were available and just couldn’t resist.”
After knocking out collabs with musical heavyweights Travis Scott, Gucci Mane, and Laneway alumni Jamie xx, Young Thug returned this year with his new LP, JEFFREY, which housed the huge Scott team-up Pick Up the Phone (below).
He joins a triple j listener’s dream of other acts on the 2017 Laneway lineup, including the artist formerly known as Chet Faker — Nick Murphy — and Tame Impala, who’ll probably be taking a well-deserved break after the festival.
2017 will see Laneway return to locations in Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, Fremantle and Sydney, and you can check out the full lineup and ticketing deets below.
UPDATE 09/01/16: King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard have been announced as the final addition to this year’s Laneway Festival lineup.
