YouTuber Gives Hilarious Demonstration Of How “Every Chainsmokers Song Is Written”

The Chainsmokers are the internet’s new favourite punching bag. While they continue to rake in bankrolls off their particular brand of EDM-pop, they’re also copping it from all angles from folks who think they’re just, well, a bit shit.

Esquire recently published a think piece dubbing them “the Nickelback of EDM” (ouch) and criticising them for “becoming immensely popular by using the worst cliches the genre has to offer, and then taking it down to the river and putting it out of its misery”. While they’ve also recently been pwned by the likes of ZHU and Mark Ronson.

And now, YouTuber John Fassold has had a crack, compiling a video of Snapchat footage which artfully demonstrates “how EVERY Chainsmokers song is written” which has gone viral since being uploaded to Reddit.

Watch as Fassold demystifies the formula behind The Chainsmokers’ success and uses it to create some “edgy but not too edgy” tunes of his own about household items such as laundry detergent, calculators and Febreze.

Enjoy.
