Fourteen people were hospitalised during a concert by The Chainsmokers in San Jose, California on Friday night, after emergency crews responded to a wave of medical incidents at the outdoor show.
According to Consequence, the San Jose Fire Department was called to Discovery Meadow at around 8.22pm on Friday, 4th September, following reports that multiple concertgoers required medical attention.
As the number of patients grew, officials reportedly dispatched an ambulance task force, two advanced life support units and a battalion chief to the venue.
A total of 14 ambulances ultimately responded to the incident, with 14 people transported to local hospitals.
Authorities have not disclosed the conditions of those hospitalised, nor have they indicated that the medical incidents shared a single cause.
San Jose police did, however, confirm that some attendees were treated for “suspected alcohol intoxication and drug-related issues”.
No arrests were reported in connection with the incidents.
The Chainsmokers’ 18+ concert was promoted by Insomniac and also featured Dutch DJ Don Diablo on the bill. The event began at 5pm and was scheduled to run until 10pm.
Emergency crews remained at Discovery Meadow through the end of the event, with the fire department reportedly wrapping up its response at around 10.34pm.
Neither The Chainsmokers nor their representatives had publicly commented on the hospitalisations.
The EDM duo continued with their touring schedule the following day, performing at Encore Beach Club in Las Vegas on Saturday, 5th September. They are next scheduled to perform at Austin City Limits in October.
