ZZ Top have announced their return to Australia, undertaking an extensive run of dates across April and May 2025. The freshly-announced batch of dates comes as part of the American rock trio’s Elevation world tour, which will also see them out on the road across North America, Europe and New Zealand. Joining the band for all dates of their Australian tour are fellow American blues-rockers George Thorogood & The Destroyers. The band, best known for their 1982 single ‘Bad To The Bone’, have frequently toured Australia over the decades – including as recently as 2022. Their 2025 run with ZZ Top, however, is being billed as their farewell tour.
ZZ Top – ‘La Grange’
In addition to playing their own shows together, both ZZ Top and Thorogood have been announced as part of the second installation of regional mini-festival Red Hot Summer. There, both acts will be joined by The Living End, Baby Animals, Rose Tattoo and Dallas Frasca. The Red Hot Summer dates will precede ZZ Top’s first headlining show in Adelaide, taking in two regional Victorian dates across the final weekend of April.
ZZ Top last toured Australia in March of 2013. They served as main support for Guns N’ Roses‘ arena tour, as well as playing their own headlining shows. Since they were last here, longtime bassist Dusty Hill passed away at the age of 72. He was replaced in the band’s line-up by Elwood Francis, ZZ Top’s long-serving guitar tech, circa 2021.

A pre-sale for ZZ Top’s headlining shows will take place from 12pm local time on Friday, December 6th. Pre-sale for the Red Hot Summer shows will follow an hour later, at 1pm local time. General sale for all shows commences from 1pm local time on Monday, December 9th.
