Alexisonfire ‘Farewell’ Australian Tour Dates 2012

Almost exactly one year since the members of Alexisonfire announced their break-up, the band have decided to reunite for one more farewell tour to celebrate their 10th anniversary. They’ll be visiting a limited number of countries, including the UK, Brazil, Canada and, lucky for us, Australia.

Their split came after four studio records and a decade of rocking together, and was due to Alexisonfire guitarist and vocalist Dallas Green’s increasingly time-consuming side project City & Colour, as well as bandmate Wade Macneil’s decision to join hardcore punk act Gallows (who might be a likely addition to the Soundwave 2013 lineup) and focus on his own side project, Black Lungs.

The band is also working on a discography vinyl box set, which will include 12″ LPs of each studio release and out of print 7″ EPs, including, but not limited to, Math Sheet Demos, Crisis B-sides, Insulation Tapes, and BBC Sessions. The box set will also feature a photo booklet and other exclusive items. More information on that will be released in the upcoming weeks.

Singer George Pettit recently spoke about the band’s decision to reunite one last time, saying: “I think that there was a lot of doom and gloom surrounding the last Alexisonfire tour. Now that the dust has settled, and everyone has gone down their separate paths, I think it’s important to get proper closure on 10 years and share it with our fans. After this we can leave Alexis in our rear view and remember it fondly, not as something we had to escape.”
