Arcade Fire Confirm New Album To Be Released On 29th October

We’ve been waiting with bated breath for concrete details on the latest record from our favourite French-Canadian indie kids Arcade Fire and here it is – the follow-up to 2010’s glorious The Suburbs from Win Butler, Régine Chassagne and company will be released on Tuesday, 29th October.

The news came via Twitter, with the band sharing the details in a reply to a fan who had simply posted “You’re my favourite”. The 9-piece then replied with “Thanks. Our new album will be out October 29th” along with a photo of the Montreal Biosphere, which caught fire on May 20th, 1976 – potentially the album cover? Regardless, that’s not bad for a casual reply to a fan tweet.

The yet-to-be-named album was previously rumoured for release on 9th September but it seems that speculation was a little premature. The band have been working on the new tunes with LCD Soundsystem‘s James Murphy, who is said to have both worked on production and collaborated on “3 or so songs”, which perhaps means we’ll be seeing more of an electronic influence on studio album number 4.

The only thing to do now is sit back, relax and start speculating on whether we’ll see the band in Australia for our summer festival season. Arcade Fire are well overdue for a trip Down Under, having last come our way for the Big Day Out in 2007.
