After a massive celebration of Australian music last year, ARIA Awards organisers are pleased to announce that it’s time to do it all over again, or, at least time to start thinking about doing it all over again. Today sees the welcomed announcement of the dates for the 2013 ARIA Awards, as well as the event venue.
For its 27th year, the internationally-recognised Australian Recording Industry Association Awards will be held on Sunday, 1st December and will see the Event Centre at The Star in Sydney filled to the brim with Aussie music’s best and brightest. Of course, the event always manages to attract at least a handful or so of international talent too.
Say what you will about Taylor Swift, but a remarkable 750,000 people tuned into the Nine Network digital offshoot Go! to watch the 2012 awards, with 500,000 people tuning in afterwards via Youtube. More than 100,000 votes were submitted, with this number expected to grow even further this year, considering the overwhelming amount of groundbreaking, chart-topping Australian music that has come out in the past nine odd months, including a crazy 10 #1 Australian Albums––numbers we haven’t seen since 2004.
This year, the winners of the ARIA Fine Arts and Artisan Awards will be revealed Tuesday, 15th October at the Art Gallery of NSW. Stay tuned to Music Feeds for the list of nominees and musical program or check out official ARIA Awards website.
