The Avalanches Will Actually Return With New Music Today

UPDATE: Listen to Frankie Sinatra here!

Many of us thought we’d never see the day, but today The Avalanches have announced they will actually premiere a new song and give an interview.

After months of speculation which started with updated social media accounts and a spot on the bill for Splendour In The Grass, The Avalanches will take to Apple Music’s Beats 1 to premiere a new track and talk with host Zane Lowe.

This is a momentous occasion that comes sixteen years after the release of their debut album Since I Left You, an almost scarily appropriate title given the disappearance that followed that record.

“Coming up at some point in the next 12 hours, new music will emerge and you will hear the first new interview with Tony [Di Blasi] and Robbie [Chater] aka the Avalanches,” Lowe said on Beats 1 earlier but we’ve now been given a time. Around 2pm the interview will air with new music slotted in presumably somewhere within that.

Beats 1 have shared a teaser of the interview with the first question being, “What’s been happening in sixteen years?”

triple j has also said it will play a new song by The Avalanches called Frankie Sinatra around 2pm. That’s the track that rapper Danny Brown confirmed years ago to have written with them, although it’s unknown at this stage whether he will still be featuring on the track.

Set your alarms for 2pm, the day is finally here.
