Childish Gambino Will Not Play Australian Falls Festival Sideshows

Written by Mike Hohnen on August 8, 2016

UPDATE 23/08/16: The full lineup for Falls Festival 2016/2017 has been announced.

ORIGINAL STORY: There has been a bit of a blow to the plans of Childish Gambino fans who were eager to suss out ‘tha realest motherfucker in the game, like Tron’ but not trudge through the oceans of people at Falls Festival. It’s been announced that Gambeezy will not be performing sideshows while he’s in town.

According to Falls Festival organisers, “There will be no Childish Gambino Aus sideshows on this tour.”

No official reason has been given for the lack of extra-curricular activities, but you only need to look at his Australian visit last year to see why it not have been a favourable option.

While in town for Listen Out Festival, fans were pretty surprised upon arriving at the Newcastle sideshow to find that the heavily billed Childish Gambino live show was just his crew running around on stage aimlessly all night.

Falls Festival dropped a serious info bomb last Friday including dates, venues and ticketing information for this year’s event. So far, Gambino is the only confirmed artist but, I mean, do we need anymore to make a rational decision?

Gambino aka Donald Glover, will be touring his forthcoming and highly anticipated new album PHAROS, due out later in 2016. The album will follow 2013’s Because The Internet and his 2014 EP Kauai.
