Daniel Johns Teases First Solo Release, ‘Aerial Love’, Coming Next Week

UPDATE 29/01/15: Daniel Johns’ Aerial Love is now available to stream, and there’s news of a new EP and album — details here.

Just hours before his divisive performance at triple j’s 40th birthday Beat The Drum celebrations, Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns teased the arrival of much anticipated solo material, which looks likely to be released next week on 29th January.

Taking to his social media accounts on Friday, Johns — or at least his team — posted the January 29th premiere date of new track Aerial Love, alongside an image of what appears to be its artwork.

The impending arrival of solo work was mentioned by Midnight Oil frontman and former politician Peter Garrett when he introduced Johns at Beat The Drum on Friday. Garrett said Johns would have new music out “really soon”.

A solo Daniel Johns album has reportedly been in the works for more than three years and was expected to be released sometime in 2014. That never eventuated but it looks like now fans won’t have to wait too much longer.
