Dave Grohl Will Not Tour With QOTSA Behind New Album

Dave Grohl has informed CBS Local that he will not be touring with Queens of the Stone Age behind the band’s upcoming sixth studio album. At the beginning of November news broke that the Foo Fighters’ frontman had rejoined QOTSA to play drums on the currently untitled new album.

Grohl had previously taken on drummer duties for QOTSA’s 2002 record Songs for the Deaf. At that time Grohl toured with the band, but it looks like Josh Homme will have to find a replacement for Grohl when next QOTSA hit the road.

Grohl’s decision not to tour with QOTSA may come as a bit of bummer, but the buzz surrounding the new QOTSA LP is still impressive. Along with Grohl, Trent Reznor has helped out on the new record along with former QOTSA bassist Nick Oliveri.

Grohl has previously described the forthcoming release as “completely ridiculous” while Homme has said the album is “deeper, richer and stranger” and “more vulnerable” than previous QOTSA efforts.
