Falls Festival 2013/2014 Official Lineup Announcement

Written by James Arnold-Garvey on August 12, 2013

UPDATE: SECOND LINEUP ANNOUNCEMENT FOR FALLS 2013/14 HAS BEEN UNVEILED!

The time has finally arrived for the Falls Festival 2013/2014 line up announcement. The roster of artists set to ignite Lorne, Marion Bay and Byron Bay this New Year’s has just been announced, including Vampire Weekend, The Roots, MGMT, Grizzly Bear, Violent Femmes and so many more!

With 28 names on the list, including 17 internationals with five of those acts never before gracing our shores, the 2013/2014 lineup was mostly kept under wraps this year, though Vampire Weekend returning to headline the event was an almost certainty with their Unbelievers used to soundtrack the latest festival teaser vids.

The Roots also announced earlier this year that they would be heading Down Under in time for New Year’s, Grizzly Bear‘s Ed Droste has also done much the same thing. We reckon both are a perfect fit.

Celebrating its 17th year on the Australian music scene, 2013 will also see the festival expanding into new territory. It’s being taken up to Byron Bay where it will share the same turf as Splendour In The Grass – the North Byron Parklands – making use of the area’s “natural amphitheatres, lakes and tree coverage”, though the festival’s keen to avoid the pitfalls that made Splendour a logistical nightmare late last month.

You can enter the ballot for tickets via the official Falls website right now, with registrations closing at 12pm AEST, Monday 26th August. Then, from 9am Thursday 29th August, lucky ballot-winners can purchase just four tickets each, with a general ticket sales then beginning 9am Wednesday, 4th September. No word yet on prices, so stay tuned.

So here it is – the Falls Festival 2013/2014 lineup!
