Iggy Azalea: “I’m Not Doing Australian Sideshows, Don’t Buy Tickets”

Despite her first-ever headlining Australian dates being announced just last night, Aussie ex-pat Iggy Azalea has taken to Twitter to tell fans not to buy tickets to the shows, because she’s not playing them.

The US-based rapper has been shutting down all talk of Australian shows via social media, going so far as to say that if any dates were to be confirmed the news would come from her first.

The dates announced last night were set to take place around Azalea’s support slots on Beyonce’s Mrs Carter World Tour Australian stopover. In one tweet she declares:

“Please don’t buy any tickets unless they are to BEYONCE as of right now. If I add any shows, I’ll be the first to let you know.”

In a statement to Music Feeds, the tour’s promoters IEG have stated that, despite going through the proper channels, the previously announced headlining dates are currently unconfirmed and that they are “hoping to confirm final dates with [Iggy Azalea’s] management” ASAP.

So it looks like, for the moment at least, fans would be best served to heed Azalea’s advice and wait before buying tickets, which are set to go on sale next Tuesday. You can read the full statement from IEG below, as well as some choice tweets.

UPDATE: IEG have announced that Iggy Azalea’s scheduled sideshows will not be going ahead, with management taking responsibility for the confusion. While this doesn’t necessarily preclude headline shows from Iggy Azalea while she’s in the country, it does mean that the previously announced dates will not be going ahead.

She will still be supporting Beyonce. Full statement below.

“IEG is disappointed to announce that Iggy Azalea will not be doing her scheduled sideshows while she is in Australia. While all appropriate care and measures were taken when organising these shows including confirmation with management and her agent, unfortunately the shows have been cancelled and tickets will not be going on sale on Tuesday 8 Oct.

Turn First Artists has provided the below statement:

“Iggy’s management apologise for confusion caused relating to the Australian side shows and take full responsibility for the mis-communications.”

Original Statement from IEG:

“IEG have recently announced Iggy Azalea will be performing sideshows in Australia presented with The Bump and Channel V. All appropriate care and measures were taken prior to announcing these dates. Like Australian fans, IEG were looking forward to seeing the popular Australian artist perform her own shows in October and are hoping to confirm final dates with her management as soon as possible before tickets go on sale next Tuesday”
