Bakers Eddy Return With ‘I’m Doing Better’ EP, Announce Australian Tour Dates

Bakers Eddy have officially shared their second EP, entitled I’m Doing Better. It marks the band’s formal follow-up to their debut album, 2022’s Love Boredom Bicycles, as well as their first EP since 2018’s I’m Not Making Good Decisions. In tandem with the release of the EP, the Wellington-born and Melbourne-based rock band have announced an Australian tour to support it. The full list of tour dates, as well as ticketing information, can be found below.

In a press statement, lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Ciarann Babbington describes the EP as “a step in a new direction” for the band. “I think it will feel like a breath of fresh air for anyone who has been a fan for the last few years,” he said. “We’re wearing our early emo/pop punk influences on our sleeve more than we’ve ever done, and we’re speaking about things that really matter to us. We’re letting people in on our experiences growing up together, and at times we’re being more vulnerable than we’ve ever been before. It’s high energy at all times, [however,] which has become a staple of this band and something I don’t think will ever go away.”

Bakers Eddy – ‘Hopeless Dreams’

After touring consistently in support of Love Boredom Bicycles, the band took in a period of relative quiet with only select shows. They began the rollout for I’m Doing Better with the release of the single ‘Manners Street’ back in March. ‘UFO’ and ‘Dust On My Brain’ followed as singles, with the band’s latest single from the the EP being ‘Hopeless Dreams’. Carrington continued in his press statement by noting the song deals with “that feeling of fear that you might succumb to life when things get difficult, and wind up giving up on your dreams when things feel too hard.”

“This is something I was going through before writing this song,” he said. “I was doing a lot of thinking and noticing patterns of getting in my own way sometimes. Putting this down on paper helped make me more aware of these things which I think is a good thing, to be honest and vulnerable and try to not make the same mistakes.”
