The Keep Sydney Open movement has announced that its third anti-lockouts rally will take place on Saturday, 18th February in Martin Place.
Keep Sydney Open’s forthcoming rally is partly a response to New South Wales Police’s successful move to ban their previous rally in Kings Cross from taking place. Following the ban, Keep Sydney Open organisers promised to return with a “bigger” and “louder” rally in February.
The exact time and lineup for the new rally is still to be announced, but in a video message to supporters, Keep Sydney Open’s Tyson Koh has urged punters to come together, not just to protest the lockouts, but also to defend their right to protest.
“We’re protesting for the right of Sydneysiders to be able to express ourselves politically, and assemble on the streets of the city that we call home,” Koh says.
In January, Keep Sydney Open called on New South Wales’s new Premier Gladys Berejiklian to meet with them to discuss Sydney’s nightlife.

UPDATE 15/02/17: Keep Sydney Open has announced that artists Montaigne, Hugo Gruzman (of Flight Facilities) and Mark Callaghan and Graham ‘Buzz’ Bidstrup from GANGgajang will appear at the upcoming rally. More acts and speakers are still to be announced.
