Keep Sydney Open Is Throwing Its Own Music Festival To Protest The Lockouts

UPDATE: Keep Sydney Open Is Throwing Another Music Festival To Protest The Lockouts

ORIGINAL STORY: The Keep Sydney Open movement has announced its very own music festival called Meet Me In The Cross, which will sees a bunch of Kings Cross venues host gigs on the same day this July.

On Saturday, 1st July, the Kings Cross Hotel, The World Bar, Candys Apartment, Potts Point Hotel, Crane Bar, Jangling Jack’s and Sweethearts Rooftop will open their doors to a full precinct party until 3am.

The music lineup is still to be announced (UPDATE: The lineup is now available to view below), but expect an eclectic mix of local acts from squads like Astral People, Future Classic, Elefant Traks, Lovebombs, Heaps Gay, Zoo Project, We Love and T1000.

Tickets will be $30, and will allow punters entry to all of the participating venues, as well as other deals with food vendors and traders.

“We’re super excited to be partnering with Keep Sydney Open and the rest of the Kings Cross Precinct,” says The World Bar’s Greg Turton.

“A music festival is a great opportunity to highlight just some of the awesome talent that is on show every weekend in Eastside Sydney. Hopefully this will be the first of many.”

Meanwhile, Keep Sydney Open Campaign Director Tyson Koh says, “Kings Cross is the heart and soul of Sydney nightlife. We all know it has suffered in recent times, but the truth is venues are still kicking in the Cross — you can still see great local live bands and dance to amazing music.

“Now it’s time to support the venues and artists that make this city great in the best way possible: by having a party!”

Tickets for Meet Me In The Cross are available now through Eventbrite.

Keep Sydney Open held its latest rally in Martin Place in February, after its prior rally in Kings Cross was banned by New South Wales Police.
