LCD Soundsystem Allegedly Cancel Australian Tour Before It’s Even Announced

UPDATE 25/01/18: LCD Soundsystem have now cancelled their 2018 Australian tour with Nick Murphy (after it was announced though).

LCD Soundsystem have allegedly cancelled a planned 2016 Australian tour before it was even publicly announced, after the band today pulled out of a festival in Hong Kong, China.

In a statement posted to Facebook, Hong Kong’s Clockenflap Festival says LCD Soundsystem have pulled out of their event, as well as a planned Australian tour. According to the festival, the reason for the alleged cancellation of LCD’s Aussie tour is “studio scheduling conflicts related to their new album”.

“LCD Soundsystem have had to cancel their upcoming Asian & Australian tour at the end of the year, now including their appearance at Clockenflap 2016,” the festival says.

“We are as disappointed as you are with this news. We wish them all the best with their recording and look forward to welcoming them to Hong Kong at another time.”

LCD Soundsystem last performed in Australia at Big Day Out back in 2011. Music Feeds has contacted the band and their record label DFA for comment.

James Murphy and company announced they had officially reunited earlier this year, and have played a number of headline and festival shows since then, including Coachella and Barcelona’s Primavera Sound festival.
