M.I.A. may end up paying a fine for flipping off millions of viewers at yesterday’s Super Bowl. According to TMZ, if the NFL is fined by the FCC, M.I.A. might end up picking up the costs. M.I.A. had signed on her contract an agreement to indemnify the NFL for any money it might be forced to pay. Probably as a standard clause after the famous Janet Jackson nip slip.
She had made the gesture during a performance of Madonna’s new single, Give Me All Your Luvin., and also uttered an expletive, although it wasn’t very audible. Both NBC and the NFL released statements apologising, while trying to push the blame on to others as well.
