American grunge/metal innovators The Melvins have announced details of a live album set for release on May 31 on Ipecac Recordings. The four-piece recorded the 13-track album at the Bust-a-Guts club in Downey, California, with its title as Sugar Daddy Live.

The selection of songs spans the entirety of The Melvins’ long career, and includes such staples as Boris, The Kicking Machine, Nude With Boots and Star Spangled Banner. Sugar Daddy Live is their fourth live album, with the others being A Live History of Gluttony and Lust, Melvins Vs Minneapolis and Millenium Monsterwork 2000.

The Melvins are currently in New Zealand, and were reportedly at Christchurch airport when the earthquake struck on Tuesday, but managed to leave the city unharmed. However, their scheduled show in Wellington on Tuesday was rearranged for a later date.

The band are about to head to Australia were they will play the Soundwave Festival, with sideshows planned with Primus at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre (Feb 28) and Melbourne’s Palais Theatre (Mar 3)
