MONA FOMA Reveals 2017 Music Program In Full

Tasmania’s MONA FOMA event (that’s the Museum Of Old & New Art’s Festival of Music & Art, or MOFO) has unveiled its full 2017 program featuring a list of artists, creatives (around 200 to be precise) and activities which will leave you short of breathe just scrolling through it.

In September, MOFO whet our appetites by announcing two headline acts — Puscifer and Mike Patton’s brand new outing tētēma, which will be making its world premiere at the festival.

We now have the full list of live music, which is both forward thinking and all encompassing, including performances from Peaches (performing a one-woman show called ‘Peaches Christ Superstar’ based around the famous rock opera), Germany’s Pantha du Prince, Niger’s Mdou Moctar, Alim Qasimov Ensemble from Azerbaijan and of course, a little bit of Kiwi flavour in Phil Dadson & Don McGlashan for good measure.

It’s not all about far and exotic cultures, but also making the most out of what we have locally. A series of special collaborations have also been announced. For example, Regurgitator will be performing the debut album from Velvet Underground & Nico with Seja on synth and Mindy Meng Wang on Chinese zither Guzheng.

Punters can expect to be immersed in all the usual MOFO antics, parties and markets happening in and around the Museum of Old and New Art. And beat this — if you’re from Tassie, you get a locals discount.
