Nirvana ‘In Utero’ Reissue To Contain Recently Unearthed Song, 89 Tracks

Written by Sarah Bella on August 14, 2013

Here’s one to make you feel old, old, old – Nirvana‘s iconic third and final studio album In Utero is 20 freakin’ years old and to mark the occasion it’s set for a re-release this September, featuring a newly discovered, never heard before tune among its 89 (!) tracks.

The re-release will come as both a standalone CD and as a 3CD/1DVD edition, featuring over 70 songs. Disc 1 has the remastered original album, while disc 2 will have a “2013 album mix” of the full record, although what this entails isn’t clear. It’ll also contain Forgotten Tune, the recently unearthed instrumental that comes from an In Utero-era rehearsal, as well eight different demo versions of In Utero tracks, including Dave Grohl‘s first ever solo recording with his version of Marigold from 1990.

As if that wasn’t enough for the die-hard Nirvana fan, disc 3 contains the grunge legends’ December 1993 Live & Loud concert from Seattle’s Pier 48, fully remastered, with the DVD containing the show in full as well as more rarities. There’s also handwritten lyrics from Kurt Cobain and liner notes from comedian Bob Goldthwait, who you might remember from the recently unearthed In Utero promo video (below).

There’s still no word on a local release date for the reissue, but it hits the States on 24th September. You can check out the full tracklist below.
