One week following the tragic news of Mac Miller passing away at the age of just 26, his former flame Ariana Grande has posted a beautiful tribute to the beloved rapper.
Taking to Instagram, after previously disabling her comments due to being targeted by a storm of abuse from fans blaming her for his death from an apparent drug overdose, the popstar tells Mac: “I adored you from the day i met you when I was nineteen and I always will”.
“I can’t believe you aren’t here anymore,” she continues. “I really can’t wrap my head around it. We talked about this. So many times. I’m so mad, I’m so sad I don’t know what to do.
“You were my dearest friend. For so long. Above anything else. I’m so sorry I couldn’t fix or take your pain away. I really wanted to. The kindest, sweetest soul with demons he never deserved. I hope you’re okay now. Rest.”
She accompanied the post with a cute video of Mac, clearly taken when the pair were blissfully happy and casually hanging out.
Grande and Miller dated for around two years before breaking up this past May.
