Snoop Dogg maybe be the prime case study for researchers looking to study the effects of cannabis on productivity. He may smash a reported 81 blunts a day, but he hasn’t slowed down, with the rap icon recently debuting his new funk project, Snoopzilla, on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Taking to the stage, Snoop and his band Dam Funk performed Faden Away, the lead track from their upcoming collaborative EP 7 Days Of Funk, as well as a previously unheard jam dubbed Do My Thang.
Speaking on how the music came around, Dam Funk explained that it all grew very organically (no pun intended), saying:
“These beats were made for him and he laid down some of the smoothest harmonies and melodies I’ve ever heard, it’s hip-hop, but you can also hear what we grew up on, from Zapp to Evelyn ‘Champagne’ King and Patrice Rushen.”
Word on the street is that the debut EP from the project, set for a Tuesday, 10th December international release date, will also feature collaborations with Daz Dillinger, Kurupt and Steve Arrington.
Snoop Dogg and the man’s reggae moniker, Snoop Lion, will both be in town for Big Day Out 2014, though it’s unclear whether or not Snoopzilla will be joining them.
