Thrice have pulled out

Yesterday promoters of the successful touring festival Soundwave begun releasing cryptic clues regarding a new festival to be held in September called Soundwave Revolution.

Those in charge of the festival have tantalised fans with mysterious clues via their social networks, with one being ’11029042 Viva La Revolution’. The number read backwards suggests the new festival will take place on September 24 2011.

A festival spokesperson described the new event as “an alternative rock and punk festival”.

The quote continued, “There are so many acts who want to play the Soundwave Festival and so many we couldn’t put on. And there’s not a lot of room to grow in terms of crowd except in Sydney, so yes, absolutely, there is room in the market for another alternative rock and punk festival. And if we don’t do it, someone else will.”

The first band to be announced was UK ‘s Young Guns, this was followed by Four Year Strong, This Providence, The Swellers and Terrible Things. All bands announcing themselves on the line-up via the Twitter hashtag #swRevolution with a rather generic and similar message “Australia, we are on our way #swRevolution”.

29th of March – Festival promoter AJ Maddah tweeted “LET THERE BE METAL #swRevolution”. A hint about the types of bands yet to be announced?

2nd of April – Aj Maddah tweeted All but 3 bands announced so far are from stages 5 & 6. #swRevolution.

13th April – Aj Maddah replied to a tweet: 99% sure there won’t be any side shows for swRev.

15th April – Aj Maddah tweeted: BRISBANE * SYDNEY * MELBOURNE * ADELAIDE * PERTH

17th April – Aj Meddah tweeted: Guys, announcement is April 28th (in the interest of not answering the same question for the 59489th time)

25th Arpil – Aj Maddah tweeted I may have to postpone the #swRevolution announcement scheduled for the 28th while we work out what to do about Perth
