Stone Temple Pilots Fire Scott Weiland But He Won’t Go Quietly

Frontman Scott Weiland has been fired from the Stone Temple Pilots. As reported by Loudwire, yesterday the band’s remaining members issued a statement which gave little detail other than informing fans that Weiland was no longer with STP.

Stone Temple Pilots have announced they have officially terminated Scott Weiland.

A second similar statement was posted a few hours ago on Stone Temple Pilots’ Facebook page:

February 27th, 2013 – Stone Temple Pilots have announced they have officially terminated Scott Weiland – no further information is available at this time.

In response Weiland has since released his own statement concerning his apparent termination. From Weiland’s statement it appears the singer is not accepting of the news and questions how he can be fired from the band he founded:

“I learned of my supposed ‘termination’ from Stone Temple Pilots this morning by reading about it in the press. Not sure how I can be ‘terminated’ from a band that I founded, fronted and co-wrote many of its biggest hits, but that’s something for the lawyers to figure out. In the meantime, I’m looking forward to seeing all of my fans on my solo tour which starts this Friday. – Scott Weiland”

It was only a few days ago that Weiland assured Rolling Stone that all was well within STP. Addressing previous comments by Slash, who last month said Weiland had been fired from STP and hence was pushing for the reformation of Velvet Revolver, Weiland told Rolling Stone he was still a part of the band:

“STP has not broken up. I haven’t quit. I haven’t been fired. Slash doesn’t know anything about STP. We’re talking right now about when we want to tour next.”
