Tame Impala’s Jay Watson Announces New GUM Album, Shares Fresh Track ‘Gemini’

With Kevin Parker taking care of songwriting duties, Tame Impala‘s touring band members unsurprisingly each have their own side projects, and one of the band’s multi-instrumentalists, Jay Watson, has just announced another album under the name GUM.

Watson, who is also a member of Pond, has revealed that his third self-produced album as GUM will be titled Flash In The Pan, and he’s also dropped the first track from the forthcoming record in the form of Gemini.

Flash In The Pan was recorded almost completely at Watson’s home over the past couple of years, and follows his first two records Delorean Highway and Glamorous Damage.

He says new track Gemini (below) is about people blaming star signs for the stuff that’s happening in their life.

Gemini is the first song I recorded for the album, and probably the most immediate,” Watson says. “I’m not really a fan of star signs. I am a Gemini though, so there’s the bipolar/duality thing in there is as well.”

Flash In The Pan will be released on Friday, 11th November. Catch an album teaser video alongside Gemini, below.
