The Flaming Lips Announce Single Australian Headline Show

Psych-rockers The Flaming Lips have taken some off from planning a naked, milk soaked show with Miley Cyrus – to which you are also invited – to announce a one off Australian headline show while they’re in the country this year for Hobart’s MONA FOMA 2016.

Wayne Coyne and co. will play their one off headline show in Melbourne at the Palais Theatre Friday January 8th, before heading to New Zealand for the McLaren Valley Festival and then heading back to Aus to bring their weird, wonderful and super-colourful live show to the MONA FOMA stage.

The group will showcase songs from their latest studio album, 2014’s With a Little Help from My Fwends, which is a track-for-track tribute to The Beatles’ album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. They’ll no doubt also have some tunes to play from their latest all-original album, 2013’s The Terror, as well as previous fan favourites.

Notorious for out-of-this-world live stage shows, prepare for The Flaming Lips to unleash confetti cannons, yetis, aliens, animal back-up dancers, a glowing neon vagina and Coyne’s signature space-bubble crowd-surfing schtick.

If ever there was a show not to be missed, this is it. See show details below.
