In what is sure to be the first of many leaks to come, The Shins frontman James Mercer told The Vine that the band will be touring to Australia later in the year, with plans to appear at Splendour In The Grass under negotiation.
“Yes, we will,” Mercer said in response to being asked if The Shins had any plans to tour Australia. “I just don’t know when. I know there was talk about Splendour in the Grass, but that’s like, pencilled into my calendar. It’s not official. So we would be trying to put something together around there, I suppose.”
This comes as Band Of Skulls, Speaking with Music Feeds last week dropped that they were planning a tour around the same time as the festival, which while not being as clear cut as Mercer’s announcement, is still rather exciting.
With this year’s line-up said to not be as big as last years due to the return to the site at Byron Bay’s Belongil Fields from Woodfordia in Queensland, last year’s line-up including Kanye West and Coldplay, two of the worlds biggest bands, stay tuned for muse on the kind of acts set to round out the line-up at this year’s festival.
