There’s A New Marriage Equality Concert Going Down In Sydney Tonight

While the pain of yesterday’s YesFest cancellation is still fresh, Sydney has been given a little something to help dress the wound.

Marriage equality advocates still stinging that the huge Live Aid-style SSM fundraiser won’t be going ahead can now drown their sorrows at Sydney’s HOME The Venue tonight, where another ‘Yes’ live music bash will be going down.

The official pre-party for tomorrow’s final marriage equality rally will feature a 100 per cent queer lineup of artists curated by Cool Try and KWEER Touring & Events, hosted by Jordan Raskopoulos and featuring headliner Greg Gould, who’s only just dropped a powerful new music video dubbed ‘Freedom’ in support of SSM, starring rugby legend Ian Roberts, Tony Abbott’s sister Christine Forster, Trans advocate Katherine Wolfgramme and Aboriginal actor Matty Webb alongside “a cast of truly beautiful humans” (watch below).

They’ll be joined on the decks tonight by DJ Nic Kelly, DJ Dom de Sousa alongside drag performances from Bebe Gunn, MisTy DelRay and Aysha Buffet.

Promoters of the event have also confirmed to Music Feeds that anyone who purchased a ticket to YesFest will be granted free entry to tonight’s event — all you gotta do is inbox their Facebook page in advance.

Otherwise, 100 per cent of the funds raised will be donated to the NSW Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby, who are organising tomorrow’s big rally in support of equal marriage rights, which kicks off at 1pm from Belmore Park.

“Home has always, and will always embrace diversity and with that comes embracing and encouraging equality,” says venue spokespeople Susanah and Sophie Page.

“This isn’t a question of whether it should happen, it’s a question of when it should happen and we’ve waited long enough. We will be voting yes, we encourage our patrons to vote yes, let’s get it done!”
