Today In WTAF: Skrillex Is Opening For Guns N’ Roses On Their US Tour

Legit. If you’d have told us to write a list of all the artists we reckon would never share a stage with hard rock icons Guns N’ Roses in a million sodding years, Skrillex would have at least ranked top 5 (right up there with Yeezy & Redfoo).

But hell hath frozen over, because the dub king has just been announced as the official support act for a date on Gunners’ imminent US tour.

And nope, this ain’t no Justin Bieber/Bring Me The Horizon style troll (TBH even that makes more sense than this, at least their core demographics are roughly the same age).

The other support acts on GNR’s Not In This Lifetime reunion tour make a lot more sense: Alice in Chains, Lenny Kravitz and The Cult are all no-brainers for lovers of heavy riff rock, while Billy Talent and even Chris Stapleton aren’t that much of a stretch.

But Skrillex?

Skrillex?

It’s not that we don’t like the dude, we’re just genuinely concerned for his wellbeing. Crowds are known for being notoriously hostile towards support acts as it is, let alone one that embodies pretty much everything that rock fans have come to despise about modern music, and potentially even blame for the downfall of rock n’ roll itself.

Plus the show is in Texas. Texas! IT’S LEGAL TO OWN FUCKING GRENADE LAUNCHERS THERE.

Skrill won’t exactly be going down to the Paradise City, is what we’re trying to say.

Anyway, that’s happening. So all we can do now is sit back and watch it all unfold whilst hoping that promoters for the band’s (hopefully!) forthcoming Australian tour are a little less Estranged with fans of the genre.

Although we do hear Shannon Noll is available.
