Tom Petty Reportedly “Clinging To Life” Amid Conflicting Reports About His Health

UPDATE: Tom Petty Dies Aged 66, Manager Confirms

ORIGINAL STORY: Rock legend Tom Petty — best known as frontman of Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers — is reportedly “clinging to life” amid conflicting reports about his health.

Petty suffered a full cardiac arrest and was found unconscious and not breathing in his home in Malibu, California on Sunday night, before reportedly being taken to hospital and put on life support.

Earlier this morning, CBS News said it had confirmed that the 66-year-old had died, but TMZ and The Los Angeles Police Department have since disputed that claim, with the LAPD tweeting, “The LAPD has no information about the passing of singer Tom Petty. Initial information was inadvertantly [sic] provided to some media sources.

“However, the LAPD has no investigative role in this matter. We apologize for any inconvenience in this reporting.”

Meanwhile, TMZ say their sources tell them the singer isn’t expected to live through the day, as his family has allegedly placed a ‘do not resuscitate’ order on him. He is reportedly “still clinging to life” at the time of writing.
