Tool Reportedly Set To Headline 2017 Governors Ball Music Festival

UPDATE 05/01/16: The full lineup for the 2017 Governors Ball Music Festival has now been unveiled.

ORIGINAL STORY: Rock legends Tool will headline next year’s Governors Ball in New York City, according to Consequence of Sound.

Although the official lineup is yet to be announced and reps for the event are declining to comment or confirm Tool’s inclusion, Consequence of Sound‘s sources say the band are locked in, and prospects look good for it to be true, with Tool currently working on their next album.

As Music Feeds reported earlier this year, the band has previously told fans that they had two albums’ worth of material ready, but only five tracks were up to scratch. The release will be their first since 2006’s 10,000 Days.

The full lineup for Governors Ball 2017 should be released early in the new year. This year’s event had Chet Faker, Courtney Barnett, Meg Mac and Betty Who reppin’ for Australia alongside the likes of Kanye West, The Strokes, Beck, Haim and Eagles Of Death Metal.

Next year’s event will be held from 2nd to 4th June at Randalls Island Park, New York City. If Tool do end up on the lineup, it will be the band’s first NYC show in 11 years.
