Watch Childish Gambino Shine In The New Trailer For His TV Show ‘Atlanta’

Just days after being announced on the lineup for Australia’s New Years-straddling 2016/2017 Falls Festival, Childish Gambino AKA Donald Glover AKA Troy from Community has unleashed the trailer for his shiny new TV series Atlanta.

The multitalented slashie not only stars in, but also writes and directs the new FX series, which revolves around the central character of Earnest “Earn” Marks.

Now we all know that IRL Gambeezy is ‘tha realest motherfucker in the game, but the hip-hop life ain’t so easy for his character Earn, who returns to the Georgian capital after failing to become a rap star (meanwhile his cousin just became the hottest new rapper in the city #awks).

The trailer is only a shortie but it’s enough to show a textured performance from Glover, who delivers the goods in both the feels and LOLs departments.

“The thesis with the show was kind of to show people how it felt to be black,” the rapper explained at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour this week, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “I always want people to be scared because that’s kind of how it feels to be black.”

Interestingly, despite Atlanta centring largely around rap music, its first trailer comes packing a Tame Impala score ala New Person, Same Old Mistakes (but who’s complaining?)

The 10-episode series is scheduled to air on FX on September 6th.

Catch the trailer below, and remember to snag tickets to Falls when they go on sale (details TBA), because ICYMI Childish Gambino won’t be playing any sideshows.
