Watch: Daniel Johns and Josh Wakely’s Trailer For ‘My Mind’s Own Melody.’

Written by Kiel Egging on May 30, 2012

The trailer for Silverchair’s Daniel Johns and film maker Josh Wakely‘s long-mooted project My Mind’s Own Melody has been released.

Described as a ‘cinematic modern musical’, My Mind’s Own Melody has been developed as both a full-feature film and a short film based on the concept. The trailer released has been based on the short-film version. A number of limited international screenings of the film are planned in the coming months.

My Mind’s Own Melody is a film by Josh Wakely, featuring original music and lyrics by Daniel Johns, and starring David Lyons and Golden Globe winner Lisa Gerrard.

The trailer’s release is the first significant bit of post-Silverchair news we’ve heard from Johns since the band announced they were going into ‘indefinite hibernation’ last year, in the middle of making their sixth album. ┬áHis only other musical-related venture has been contributing the last verse in the Sydney Opera House’s The Ship Song project – where he joined the likes of The Temper Trap, Neil Finn, and Angus & Julia Stone to cover Nick Cave’s classic track.
