Watch Red Hot Chili Peppers Endorse Bernie Sanders With A David Bowie Cover

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have paid tribute to fallen rock legend David Bowie during their first concert of 2016, performing a cover of his Aladdin Sane cut, Cracked Actor.

The band took the stage at Los Angeles’ Ace Hotel at the #FeelTheBern benefit concert for US Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders to deliver the rendition, with drummer Chad Smith’s kit decorated with an image of Sanders meshed with Bowie’s Aladdin Sane.

“I’m for Bernie Sanders all the way,” bassist Flea wrote in a Rolling Stone op-ed. “I believe in him; I believe in what he says. I relate to people who realize that we’re all connected, and who realize that we have to look out for each other and love each other. And that’s what Bernie’s about.”

The Chilis played a twelve song, career-spanning set, which also included performances of Police Helicopter off their 1984 self-titled debut LP to Factory of Fear, and a cut from the band’s most recent album, 2011’s I’m With You.

It comes after Flea paid tribute to Bowie in the most permanent way possible: by getting a commemorative tattoo.

Check out their Cracked Actor cover below.

Meanwhile, the band are also said to be busy recording their 11th studio album.
