After two decades in action American rockers Motion City Soundtrack have announced that they are going on an indefinite hiatus.
The Minnesota group took to Facebook to announce the decision which has come as a shock to fans given that they have consistently released albums since 2003.
“We have no idea what the future holds, but for now we are done,” the band wrote.
They said that after a very busy 2015 touring their sixth album Panic Stations, they took some time off “to think about the past, present, and future of Motion City Soundtrack”.
“Needless to say, we’re feeling all the feels – you may be as well. If so, or if you’ve ever been touched by our music, we ask you to come out and sing along with us one last time in 2016,” they further wrote.
“Thanks for all the love over the years. It really means a lot to us – and it always will.”
Making sure they’re not going away without saying goodbye, they have promised one last tour which will be announced on Monday. There’s no any indication of whether that will include Australia or not but we can only hope. They were in the country just last year celebrating the tenth anniversary of their second LP Commit To Memory.
