The Smith Street Band Have Their Own Beer Now

Melbourne’s The Smith Street Band have announced today that they have brewed their own beer for Brisbane’s Beer InCider Experience.

The beer, named ‘The Lee Hartney Experience, Poolside IPA’ after the band’s guitarist, will be “full flavoured, easy-drinking beer” and is brewed with Pale and Weyermann specialty malts, with American grown Amarillo & Citra hops.

Speaking on how this brew came about, Beer InCider Experience founder Martin Keetels said he knew it was a perfect fit.

“Once The Smith Street Band signed on to play at the Festival, I jumped straight on the phone to their manager and 5th member Chris “Bos” Bosma,” he said.

“Bos jumped at the opportunity for The Smithies to brew their own beer. I think they’d already talked about it. The band and Tom from Fixation Brewing have been good mates for years. The Smithies are one of our favourite all time bands and Fixation make the best IPA in the country. It’s a great combination.

“When people talk about good beer drinking bands, The Smithies have to be right at the top. Beer InCider is giving Smithies fans not just the opportunity to watch them with a good beer in hand, it gives them the opportunity to watch them with their beer in hand!”

The Smith Street Band are just the latest in a slew of Aussie acts who’ve tried their hand at having their own special brew, with Violent Soho, Dune Rats and Ball Park Music all recently receiving the same honour.
