Dave Grohl Really Wants To Play Drums For AC/DC

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has thrown his hat in the ring to play drums for AC/DC, who he says is the “last” band he wants to play sticks for.

Speaking with Forbes earlier this week, Grohl was asked about his “dream person to play drums for”.

“AC/DC,” he replied. “That’s my last one, that’s it. [AC/DC’s on-and-off drummer] Phil Rudd is back though.

“If you dive back into their back catalog, that early shit, there was a little bit more dynamic, then they settled into the groove. That’s the thing. And it’s because of Phil Rudd. It’s AC/DC, but that guy holds the key.”

Dave Grohl has previously played drums for the likes of Tenacious D, Queens Of The Stone Age, Beck and (of course) Nirvana, and is a known Acca Dacca diehard.

Foo Fighters have covered AC/DC in the past as well, although there was that one time Grohl forgot the words to an AC/DC song during a show.

Acca Dacca released their latest album Rock Or Bust in 2014. Guitarist Malcolm Young died in 2017, however he will reportedly still feature on the group’s next album.

It’s unknown if Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose — who’s stated his intent to join AC/DC permanently — is involved in the new album (after filling in for Brian Johnson on tour), but Phil Rudd was reportedly spotted in Canada with the band earlier this year.
