Here’s What Went Down At Rekorderlig Sauna Sounds, Australia’s Hottest Concert Series

ICYMI: Rekorderlig Cider turned up the heat this past month with a new Australian concert series dedicated to showcasing local talent in a — shall we say — unorthodox performance space…

The cider giant’s Rekorderlig Sauna Sounds series showcased a selection of stellar emerging local talent performing guerrilla gigs inside saunas around the nation, in the spirit of Swedish spontaneity (think Tiny Desk Concerts except much, much hotter).

Much like Rekorderlig Cider itself, the performances came in a variety of tasty flavours, traversing a range of musical genres from the suburban hip-hop vibes of B Wise to the scuzzy indie rock stylings of Sunscreen to the tropical electronica of CLYPSO and more.

Obviously the steam was turned off for each gig so as not to destroy the gear, with all the requisite heat being supplied by the music itself.

Catch all the fire footage from the epic Rekorderlig Sauna Sounds performance series, below.

B Wise

The South-West Sydney rapper is known for bringing the heat live, but took things to the next level in his latest live performance for Rekorderlig Sauna Sounds, cranking the suburban hip-hop party vibes inside a steam room! The MC delivered an epic live rendition of his new Area Famous album-opening freestyle ‘Journal Entry’, which you can check out below. He also sat down to chat with us about the whole experience in a post-sauna interview which you can watch right here.

CLYPSO

The enigmatic Sydney producer had us perspiring after bringing her feverish brand of jungle-infused trop-tronica from stage to steam room with a performance of infectiously fresh tune ‘YOLO’ for Rekorderlig Sauna Sounds. Catch the footage below and read our post-sauna chat with the artist where she discussed the whole experience, plus what it was like to support Pnau on tour, right here.

Nick Nuisance & The Delinquents

Straight out of a garage in Petersham and into an Aussie sauna, these inner-western Sydney punks cranked up the heat with a live recording of their gritty new jam ‘Head’ inside the steam room, ahead of the release of their new EP The Delinquents Play, which is out this month. Watch their performance below and check out Music Feeds‘ post-sauna chat with the band, where they discussed their musical habits, creative process and their little-known passion for chess, right here.

Sunscreen

Fresh from showcasing at Brisbane’s BIGSOUND music conference, the indie rock quartet took cover from Sydney’s harmful UV rays by rocking out inside a sauna with a live rendition of their 2017 single ‘Voices’, bringing even more heat to the unconventional steam room stage. The guitar-pop peddlers also caught up with Music Feeds for a post-sauna chat about how writing “nonsense” helps keep them creative, the importance of taking time out for themselves and staying healthy on the road.
