Hottest 100 Voting Closes: Here Are The Songs Leading The Votes So Far

Voting for triple j‘s Hottest 100 of 2018 officially closed at 9am AEDT this morning, which means it’s time to check in with two trusted vote-trackers who have been tallying votes for listeners’ favourite tracks of 2018.

100 Warm Tunas and The Bean Counter’s 100 have both been tallying votes posted on social media in an attempt to predict who will top this year’s countdown.

Both correctly predicted eight of the 10 songs which appeared in last year’s Hottest 100, and they are promising to be even more accurate this year.

According to 100 Warm Tunas’ 23-year-old creator Nick Whyte, ‘Confidence’ by Ocean Alley is currently in the lead after 53,760 votes have been tallied, followed by Childish Gambino’s ‘This Is America’, Ruby Fields’ ‘Dinosaurs’, Wafia’s ‘I’m Good’ and Amy Shark’s ‘I Said Hi’.

Meanwhile, 40-year-old Brisbane accountant Tim Wilshire’s The Bean Counter’s 100 has also tallied over 50,000 votes at the time of writing, and also puts ‘Confidence’ by Ocean Alley at the top of the countdown, followed by Childish Gambino’s ‘This Is America’, Amy Shark’s ‘I Said Hi’, Ruby Fields’ ‘Dinosaurs’ and Fisher’s ‘Losing It’.

Kendrick Lamar claimed first place in the Hottest 100 of 2017 with his huge hit ‘HUMBLE.’, after 2.35 million votes were cast in last year’s countdown.

The Hottest 100 of 2018 will be broadcast on Sunday, 27th January 2019, with the Hottest 200 to follow on Monday, 28th January.
