Frightened Rabbit‘s The Midnight Organ Fight turned 10 last year, and to celebrate the milestone, the band are doing things a little differently. Instead of celebrating with something like a re-pressing or an extended version of the record, they’ve opted to ask some of their pals to help celebrate by recording their interpretations of tracks from the record and packaging it as a new one.
The tribute record, dubbed TINY CHANGES: A Celebration of Frightened Rabbit’s ‘The Midnight Organ Fight’ features contributions from The National‘s Aaron Dessner, Julien Baker, Chvrches‘ Lauren Mayberry, Benjamin Gibbard and more.
According to a statement from the band, the special edition record was already underway prior to frontman Scott Hutchison’s passing in May last year.
“Scott was a vital part of bringing this album together and it’s something he was very excited about and worked hard to bring to life,” say the band. “He listened to and approved every track on the there with us and had already started preparing the artwork which you’ll see on there (if you buy it).
“This is a celebration of a record that connected thousands of people to Scott and connected thousands of people to each other and ten years on it is still managing to do it.”
The record will officially be out on July 12, but to tide us over, we’ve been given two different covers of ‘The Modern Leper’ from Julien Baker and Biffy Clyro.
