Cosmo’s Midnight Release New Single ‘Yesteryear’

Sydney electronic duo Cosmo’s Midnight have returned with their first solo single of the year, ‘Yesteryear’, complete with a new music video.

‘Yesteryear’ is the duo’s second single of the year, following their collaboration with Ruel, ‘Down For You’. The last single they released with no collaborators – ‘C.U.D.I. (Can U Dig It?)’ – was released last year, and charted in triple j‘s Hottest 100 of 2019.

“‘Yesteryear’ is a song reflecting back on the years past, the unchanging feelings of youth, growing up and contemplating the future,” the band – comprised of twins Pat and Cosmo Liney – said in a press statement.

“We tried to blend these feelings into the production by drawing inspiration from older pop records as well some more progressive records. Although it seems a lot of thought went into it, ‘Yesteryear’ came about really quickly and naturally.”

The band also dropped an accompanying music video for the song, directed by Jordan Kirk. Watch the pretty meta take on the green-screen-Zoom video trope below.
