Bluesfest Could End Up Being An All-Aussie Event In 2021

The organisers of Byron Bay Bluesfest are talking up the strong Aussie contingent of their 2021 lineup as uncertainty continues to linger around international travel heading into 2021.

They’ve repackaged next year’s bill as a “merged Australian lineup”, but have stopped short of ruling out the possibility that previously announced international artists like Bon Iver, Patti Smith And Her Band and George Benson could still end up appearing.

“I am deeply grateful for the support we have been shown by the industry in order to create this spectacular showcase of Australian talent,” festival boss Peter Noble commented.

“As I stated back in July; Change is the only constant and we are ready for it. If we find that the internationals can’t come, we will add more Aussies. And that is what we have done.”

He continued: “In the meantime, we remain poised to move with the ebb and flow of this situation. Until we feel there is certainty about the borders, we will continue to list the international artists, but in the meantime, we are delighted to deliver on our promise of delivering an exceptional festival with an extraordinary All Aussie line up.”

49 Aussie acts have already been confirmed to play the 2021 extravaganza, which is locked in for April of next year at Byron Events Farm Tyagarah, and you can check them all out below.

It comes after the 2020 event was cancelled due to COVID, costing the NSW economy a staggering $203.6 million and 1,158 full time equivalent (FTE) jobs in the process.
