Foo Fighters Are Launching Their Own Radio Station

It’s not everyday your band releases their 10th full-length studio album, but that’s exactly what your rock n’ roll dads the Foo Fighters are doing next Friday. And to mark the occasion, they’re launching their very own radio station.

“Foo Fighters Radio” will air on US station SiriusXM from 4am AEDT on Feb 4th, before Medicine At Midnight drops the next day.

Sadly, it won’t be a permanent fixture. Foo FM will only hanging about the airwaves for about two months, with the switch getting turned off on April 4th. But during that time, there’ll be plenty of very cool stuff to get your ears around.

For starters, the channel will serve up a new, exclusive live concert performance from your friends of Foo dubbed Foo Fighters LIVE from the SiriusXM Garage in Los Angeles, as well as “unrivaled programming and special commentary” from Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear and Rami Jaffee.

Medicine At Midnight will stream in full at the stroke of midnight on Feb 5th (well, 4pm if you live in the AEDT timezone) as part of a track-by-track album special hosted by the band themselves.

Foo Fighters Radio will also see the band “sharing insight into their new album and the stories behind some of their biggest songs, demos, B-sides and rarities throughout their more than two-decade career”, alongside a weekly series of recordings of live shows from the Foos’ vault and a rebroadcast of Dave Grohl’s 2012 Sound City radio shows, which accompanied his award-winning doco series.

To boot, the station will also air a bunch of tunes hand-picked by the Fooies, as well as special guest DJs, artists and celebs guest programming their favourite Foo Fighters tracks.
