PREMIERE: Ben Wright Smith Keeps The Heat Waves Going With ‘New Breeze’

Singer-songwriter Ben Wright Smith is on the cusp of releasing his new album Echo Lodge, and he’s celebrating the album announcement with the release of his new single ‘New Breeze’.

It’s a summery haze of a track, hitting some colossal sonic moments, helped by the ding-dongs tucked away in the chorus. However, it also has melting pockets of subtlety as Wright Smith’s voice gently cruises along the guitar-driven heat weaves.

Speaking of the song in a press statement, Wright Smith said, “When I wrote ‘New Breeze’, I was thinking of making a simple folk song.

“We somehow ended up with a spooky sci-fi space waltz.”

The song was brought to life at Melbourne’s Soundpark Studios, mixed with the help of Amy Shark and Dan Sultan collaborator David Turner and mastered by Joe Carra, who has most notably worked with King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard – whose influence can definitely be heard in ‘New Breeze’.

Echo Lodge is set to be the third and final instalment of a trilogy of releases he’s been working at for years, following 2018’s Psychotropical EP and 2020’s Volcano God Head Explodes EP.
