The Eurovision Movie Song ‘Husavik’ Has Been Nominated For An Oscar

In a plot twist far more surprising than any of the narrative arcs in Netflix’s lockdown comedy Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga , the song ‘Husavik’ from the film’s soundtrack has just been nominated for an Academy Award!

Yes, the soaring piano ballad about the Icelandic hometown of Rachel McAdams’ character Sigrit Ericksdóttir is one of five tunes in the running for the Best Original Song Oscar, alongside ‘Fight For You’ from Judas and the Black Messiah, ‘Hear My Voice’ from The Trial of The Chicago 7 and more.

Composed by Atli Örvarsson with lyrics by Fat Max Gsus, Rickard Göransson and Savan Kotecha, the song is performed by Will Ferrell and Molly Sandén, under the stage name My Marianne (AKA Melodifestivalen star Molly Sandén).

Hopefully the Eurovision film will fair better than it did at this year’s Grammy Awards, where the soundtrack failed to win the Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media category, instead getting beaten to the punch by Jojo Rabbit.

All will be revealed when the Oscar Awards go down on Sunday, 25th April.
