Jessica Walter Of Arrested Development Has Died, Aged 80

Jessica Walter has died aged 80-years-old. The US actor is best known for her role as Lucille Bluth in Arrested Development.

Deadline reports Walter died in her sleep on Wednesday, 24th March in her Brooklyn home.

Brooke Bowman, Walter’s daughter and SVP Drama Programming at Fox Entertainment shared a statement.

“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of my beloved mom Jessica,” she wrote.

“A working actor for over six decades, her greatest pleasure was bringing joy to others through her storytelling both on screen and off.

“While her legacy will live on through her body of work, she will also be remembered by many for her wit, class and overall joie de vivre.”

Jessica Walter portrayed a range of characters across her massive career. She appeared in Three’s A Crowd, Dinosaurs, and voiced Malory Archer in the animated show, Archer.

Walter will be best remembered for her role as Lucille Bluth. She played the alcoholic and absolutely chaotic mother of the Bluth family in Arrested Development from 2003 to 2006.

The show saw her receive an Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and two SAG nominations. She picked Bluth’s martini glass back up for another two season stint as part of the Netflix revival of the show between 2013 and 2018.
