Watch Tyler, The Creator debut new material at pop up show in NYC

For Tyler, The Creator, it’s been busy since the release of his new album, Call Me If You Get Lost.

The roll out for his latest collection of music has been in depth, with the rapper’s artistic vision bringing in moments of Wes Anderson-esque pastel goodness, along with visual shorts threading together an intricate storyline of opulence and fantasy.

Last week, Tyler, The Creator brought that fantasy very much into the real world, popping up at three secret shows in the U.S. to showcase his new music for a select group of fans. For those of us hanging out to see Tyler bring Call Me If You Get Lost to Australia for Splendour In The Grass later this year (fingers crossed), this is a nice little way to see how the material sounds live.

The shows had Tyler appearing in Los Angeles, Dallas and Brooklyn; the performer’s first gigs in almost two years. Teasing the shows out on social media at the end of June, word spread as fast as you’d imagine.

Footage from Tyler’s show in Brooklyn, NYC sees him perform Call Me If You Get Lost highlights including  ‘CORSO’, ‘RUNITUP’ and ‘MASSA’, while also reflecting on the intent and stories behind his music.

Not stopping there, Tyler continued to open up to the audience, reflecting on his past material that he admitted came as part of his ‘ugly phase’.

“A lot of people go through they ugly phase at like 14 and shit. I went through mine as a grown-ass man,” he says.
