PREMIERE: Sydney Pop-Punk Outfit SoSo Plan ‘The Great Escape’ With New Single

Sydney outfit SoSo are currently gearing up to release their debut EP, I Wouldn’t Call This Success… But It’s Close Enough.

New single ‘The Great Escape’, which we’re premiering here at Music Feeds before it officially arrives tomorrow (23rd July) demonstrates their effervescent, hook-heavy pop-punk in the same musical ballpark as Trophy Eyes, Stand Atlantic and Yours Truly.

The infectious refrain sees vocalist Rhys de Burgh reflect on the choice to pursue creative goals, “I still want to make, but I’ve got one foot in the grave,” Burgh sings. There’s a hopefulness that underpins the track, an impassioned sense of honesty that makes it easy to connect with.

“I guess you could say ‘The Great Escape’ just encapsulates the big ol’ Hail Mary play of having one more go at cracking the music industry,” the band explain.

“The same kinda play as bringing Michael Clarke in to bowl late on Day 5 of a Sydney Test match, needing three wickets to win… and we all know how that magical moment went.”

‘The Great Escape’ marks the final single to be released from I Wouldn’t Call This Success… before the EP arrives on Friday, 30th July. Pending the easing of coronavirus restrictions, the band plan to take the release on tour from late August – find all the details on that here.
