Britney Spears’ Mother Lynne Backs Her Fight To Remove Father Jamie From Conservatorship

Lynne Spears has backed Britney Spears‘ latest attempt at removing her father, Jamie Spears, from the incredibly restrictive conservatorship that the popstar has lived under for the past 13 years.

Lynne recently contributed a declaration to a number of court documents filed by Britney’s new self-appointed lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, to attempt to remove Jamie from the conservatorship.

According to the court documents obtained by Billboard, Lynne’s incredibly illuminating declaration notes that she became personally involved in the conservatorship at a “time of crisis”, at the tail end of 2018, leading into 2019.

“It is clear to me that James P. Spears is incapable of putting my daughter’s interests ahead of his own on both a professional and a personal level and that his being and remaining a conservator of my daughter’s estate is not in the best interests of my daughter, the conservatee,” she said.

She also makes clear that during that particular period, her ex-husband Jamie “exercised absolutely microscopic control” over Britney’s health and her estate.

According to the declaration, Jamie hired a doctor to prescribe “entirely inappropriate medicine” to Britney, against her will. She also noted that the psychiatrist he had hired and instructed, “compelled” Britney to “enter a health facility she did not want to enter”. She also notes that Britney was “threatened with punishment” if she did not stay to complete the treatment. She claims that Jamie allegedly approved all of this, as he footed the bill.

“Since this conservatorship has been in place, the relationship between the conservatee and Mr. Spears has dwindled to nothing but fear and hatred of Mr. Spears by the conservatee due to Mr. Spears’ behavior,” Lynne states.

Within the declaration, Lynne also alleges a “physical altercation” occurred between Jamie and her grandsons Sean Preston and Jayden James – Britney’s two sons with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

The publication does not go into detail, but says that Lynne claims the incident was “appalling and inexcusable, and understandably destroyed whatever was left” of the relationship between Britney and her father.

Co-conservator Jodi Montgomery also contributed a declaration in the newly filed court documents.

“In my opinion, Mr. Spears’ removal as Ms. Spears’ Conservator is critical to her emotional health and well-being and in the best interests of the conservatee,” Montgomery wrote.

Britney and her team officially lodged the paperwork to attempt to remove Jamie as the head of the conservatorship earlier in the week.

As her legal challenge continues, US legislators have introduced a timely conservatorship reform bill that appears to be inspired by her fight.
